REAL PETS. EVERYDAY STORIES.
Share the story behind the photo
A pet photo can be enjoyable on its own. A little context helps another person understand what makes this moment yours. This guide focuses on sharing your own experiences, without turning an ordinary moment into a performance.
Give the moment context
Start with the pet’s name, what was happening, and one detail the picture cannot explain. Keep observations separate from guesses. “Milo carried his blue toy to the door when I picked up the lead” tells a clearer story than claiming to know exactly what Milo was thinking.
A caption you can adapt
“[Pet’s name] was [what you observed]. We were [brief context]. My favorite detail is [something specific].”
For example: “Nori found the empty delivery box before I finished unpacking. She ignored the new blanket and spent the afternoon in the box. The little paw through the handle made me laugh.” This is an illustrative example, not a member testimonial.
Let the pet set the pace
Record an activity your pet is already doing comfortably. Keep the camera out of the way of food, water, exits and resting spaces. If the animal moves away, stop filming. A short clip of an ordinary routine is enough; there is no need to provoke a reaction or repeat an activity just for a better take.
Check the whole frame
Before posting, look for address labels, visible phone numbers on tags, school or work details, and people who did not agree to appear. Listen to the audio as well as watching the video. Check every slide in a multi-image post, not only the cover. Keep an original copy before editing.
Make videos easy to follow
Open with the moment you want to share, keep the camera steady, and remove accidental footage. Add context in the caption when a viewer may be watching without sound. Preview the final upload and confirm its visibility before publishing. Do not assume that a draft or an upload progress bar means a post is published.
Respond with care
Ask about the experience instead of diagnosing a pet from a picture. Describe your own experience as your own, rather than presenting it as professional advice. For a concern about a pet’s health, consult a qualified professional instead of relying on comments.
When something does not belong
Use Report on the post and explain what you actually observed. Include enough context for a reviewer to find the issue. Do not encourage others to target the creator. For content you own that was copied without permission, use the copyright complaint form.
